Get Set

Following God Firmly Established in the Fundamentals

Following God and being firmly established in the fundamentals of God’s Word (the Bible), Faith, Prayer and the Church is at the heart of getting set.

In his own words, Jesus shows us a picture of a well-built life. “I will show you what he is like who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice. He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.” Luke 6:48-49

There is a clear distinction between the well-built life and the poorly-built life. There is one who hears his words and puts them into practice. There is one who also hears his words, but does not put them into practice. What’s the difference between the two? PRACTICE! If our declaration is that Jesus is Lord, then there ought to be a corresponding demonstration of that in our lives. Just like a well-built house, our lives stand firm when we take the time to “dig down deep” and lay a solid foundation on rock. Without a solid foundation, our lives, relationships, families, communities, and cities cannot stand firm and are subject to collapse.

All of us learned the foundational principles of reading, writing, and mathematics, but when it comes to the elementary teachings about Christ, often we missed the basics. In the same way that we needed these fundamentals to go on to do greater things, we also need to be introduced to the elementary teachings about Christ (listed in Hebrews 6:1-3) and taught how to put them into practice daily. You only need the intro once, but the practice is ongoing. Do this, and you’re set.

Foundations is a 4-week moment of impartation and instruction that establishes people firmly in the faith, the word of God (Bible), prayer and the church. Whether you never learned the fundamentals or you learned them a long time ago, Foundations is for everyone. This life-changing moment gets people set to move forward in His purpose for our lives.

“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.” At once they left their nets and followed him. (Matthew 4:19-20)
