Get Equipped
Empowering and Instructing People to do the Work of Ministry/Service
The biblical model that every follower of Jesus is a minister is at the heart of getting equipped (Ephesians 4:12). One of the primary functions of pastors and evangelists among other church leadership is not to “minister” but to equip God’s people to minister. Effective leadership within the local church is not the ability to minister to all the people. Effective leadership is the ability to train all the people to minister.
Jesus gave unique leadership gifts (pastor, evangelist, etc) “to prepare God’s people for works of service,” (Ephesians 4:12). If the church is a team and winning people is the mission, then pastors are coaches/trainers and the people who follow Jesus are the team of players who win people. Getting equipped gets you off the bench and into the real game.
Get Equipped is a 10-week course that meets 1 evening per week, and runs twice a year. By design, this course equips and empowers Christ followers to do the work of ministry/service. In addition to the 10-week course, there will be electives provided throughout the year.
